Should we have confidence in God, ourselves, or both? The stuggle to find to proper attitude towards confidence, especially to find more confidence in God.

Bible prompt: Magnify

I will MAGNIFY HIM with thanksgiving.

I know we are traveling through a difficult passage of life right now, there is a lot of scary, and negative news out there. It may feel like God is far away. I ask you to answer this question for yourself, is God big or small to you?

I will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

In our lives it’s very easy to get focused on all of the things that are not going our way and if we are not careful they can consume us to believe that nothing is going our way. And we begin to question, doubt, and distance ourselves from God.

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It can start out very simply, and very quickly escalate us into feeling as though our whole life is a mess, and we lose our lights. I will keep this thought short and sweet to remind you to look at the life around you and notice what you do have rather than what you don’t, be thankful to God, take time to consider what He has done for you up to this point and do your best to be thankful for Him…

Even in our trials we can be thankful…actually we are told we can have joy and glory in them, because God is making us stronger!

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:2-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:1-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11-13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Make a list of what you are thankful for, if you have heard the song count your blessings, think of it! Each one of us have been blessed in different ways, it will do us no good to compare our blessings with the blessings of others because then that can make you envious, and ungrateful for the life that God has given you!

“A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14:30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Count YOUR blessings and you will find that God is nearer to you than you realized! He loves YOU so much, let His love motivate you each day, to be a worker for Him, to learn to be self less, and Magnify Him and praise Him for what he has done for YOU each and every day.

I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34:1-22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Weekly Bible Prompts

My biggest prayer for this blog is to inspire others to want to learn more about the AMAZING WORD of GOD the way I see it is, it is an instruction manual for our lives.  Reading it, and understanding it is one of the most crucial as well as helpful things we can do to better our lives.  So how do we make it real to us? how can it become more than just a book on the shelf? More than just an accessory that we flip through on Sunday. We do this by studying it of course, sounds very simple right.

And it is, but as someone who tried, and tried, for years to get it, and constantly feeling lost.  I finally got some guidance and realized it really is not as complicated as it seems.

The problem was, I was just trying to “read” it…like it’s was some fairytale story I knew it was important so I truly desired to know what it said but it wasn’t working its fairytale magic on me…

The Bible is not meant to be handled that way my friends, because when we do that we overlook so much of the important stuff.  Every word in the this book is Inspired by God.

All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

and we must not add to it or take away from it.

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18

So since God gave us his word for instruction in righteousness, that should make wanting to study it all the more important, and if it is working in your life it will reprove you, correct you, challenge you and change you. Look at some of the beautiful things created by our loving father in Heaven.  Now of all that he created he modeled us after His own image but he did not make us gods, because there can only be one, that is Him, and He also gave us free wills to figure things out, but not without instruction HIS WORD

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

So this all leads me to this, over the last 11 years since I became a christian and was baptized into the body of Christ I have learned so much but I am still growing, through study and application of the Word (two very necessary components) I read to learn and understand the word, and many times I have come across words that stop me and make me think, sometimes I look them up, sometimes I will go back to the concordance and see where else the word is used or sometimes, I find that the theme or idea of that word is used in other settings in the Bible, and the more I learn the more it all connects. So I ask you to join me in these word prompts, the words are words that I will share weekly, words that make me stop and think more deeply about the word of God, they make me search the scriptures.  Im going to do this weekly so that gives us plenty of time to study.  If you would like to share the prompt the tag is #bibleprompt and if you would like to follow along, I will post my weekly word prompt thoughts on my blog.

I just learned how to follow tags so if you don’t know how to do that,  you will find a picture below of the place you will find that and under the tags dropdown you will type bibleprompt with no spaces or capital letters,

and make sure you also tag bibleprompt in your post if you decide to participate in this and share the prompt to the word press community.  It would greatly encourage me, just to know that you opened the Word to Study, and all the more if you joined in on this with me.  So I thank you ahead of time, and like always if there is any way that I could help or encourage you in your studies please let me know I would LOVE to help.

Prompt of the week April 6th, 2020:

I’m still very new to this whole blogging world, but I really like the idea of prompts, they take us outside of our boxes and challenge us to think about a specific word, or question, and EVEN it looks like there are art and photography prompts, so cool 😍 but as my blog mostly consists of writing and a few family photos (maybe one day I will get into photography) but nonetheless I love this idea….

But why?

As a common question from a 3 year old!

Sorry being quarantined with mostly kids under the age of 5 these past few weeks,

Half my language is toddler talk…

Anyways I recently discovered (like 30 min ago) how to follow tags so forgive me I’m really behind on this and hopefully I can figure this all out but I was looking up prompts and followed a few new tags just so I can read other content, and I thought oh I wonder if there are bible study prompts? you know I love my bible study!

Sadly I wasn’t able to find any 😢 maybe if there is some out there, will someone let me know? but in the meantime maybe I can fill in that gap…

Here is the real reason why I would like to do some bible prompts…

I have learned so much from word studying the Bible, you would be amazed!

And you know… reading the Bible, studying the Bible, and journaling as you read, it is really not as complicated as it seems. You don’t need to be a scholar!

You actually might be surprised at how much more it actually makes sense when you word study.

So to anyone who is following along, I would like to do a weekly word prompt

Let’s hashtag this #bibleprompt. if you are not familiar with prompts I can hopefully learn more before I decide what the topic will be and explain better with the next post.

Let’s get in our Bibles and study more, Learn more, read more, pray more!

Word of the week coming soon….

Stay tuned ❤️

And please don’t think this is a blogger only participation, if you don’t have a blog maybe take the word or topic and research it yourself write in your own personal journal at home after all the goal is for you to learn more right!
